The Feel Not Fill

When going through great loss whether of relationships, dreams, hopes, or realities, the human body doesn’t want to feel the great hurt it’s experiencing. Oftentimes, we attempt to fill that emptiness  with addictions or with what can seem like “good” things by themselves, like good food, social media, friendships, busyness or many other things just to fill the great pain that we are experiencing.

I have found in my grief, that the Lord doesn’t want me to fill but to feel. He wants me to feel the emptiness, to acknowledge the great void and pain yet embrace the reality and see my need for Jesus to fill it with more of Himself. This journey of feeling is to Embrace the pain and yield to the Lord’s work through it. When we feel the great absence and the voids in our lives,  it makes us also see our great need for our Savior.

It is my prayer in my great pain, that the Lord will continue to answer my prayer and heal my heart and fill the gaping holes with more of Himself. He will heal the broken hearted. It will always bear a great scar but one day I’m believing it will be beautiful, instead of pulsing with pain. So I will continue to walk in this journey of feeling instead of filling this hurt. Only God can truly fill the greatest needs of our hearts.
